Let’s celebrate Mother’s Day! On the second Sunday in May there is Mother’s Day coming, in the U.S., in Germany and many other places. Not in Morocco though where Mother’s Day will only be on the last Sunday of May. Nevertheless, that gives them more time to get crafty. Or just print out a cute and free Mother’s Day Card.

You can do better than I did
I don’t remember many Mother’s Days that we had when I was young. We didn’t have a ritual. I do remember I was making heart-shaped cake with red icing once. How inventive!
And then, I remember that one that was ruined. We were on a vacation in Dutch Zealand and my brother and me loved going to the beach each day. To our inconvenience, there was Mother’s Day approaching. ..eek…
No worries. We cut out some coupons we found in a children’s magazine, put them on the kitchen table, and off we go. I will never forget how dissappointed my mother was. She welcomed us for breakfast with a mixture of anger and sadness.
She was dissappointed that we hadn’t take a minute to think of a more personal gift. A painting or a little letter. Nothing fancy. Just personal.
I encourage you to not just download and print these cards. Write a few sentences from the heart. Put a photo to it of a moment you enjoyed with your mom. Use my super simple photo editing process if you are brand-new to this. Or learn how to become a photo enthusiast today and take mom out for a shooting.
My first Mother’s Day Gift
Last year, I was blessed enough to receive my first gift as a mother. My little one had crafted it in daycare and she couldn’t do it alone. And yet, it was absolutely beautiful! I will always cherish it.
This is what you want to give to your mom!
Make her her favorite treat, like one of these 25 Best Cupcake Recipes or Hot Chocolate.
Or give her a gift you made. Maybe one of these 40 Amazing Sugar Scrubs to make at home?
You can do this.
Wherever you are or whenever you want to send your Mom a letter telling her you think of her and that you know she is the best use a sweet Mother’s Day card! Make her smile.
I once read you should cherish a Mother’s heart as long as it is beating. And that once it’s broken it is too late. I don’t believe it is ever too late because a mother is so ever-forgiving. But keep in mind that her heart will not beat forever. My husband’s mother was taken from us in a car crash. He heard her voice on the phone the very morning not knowing it was the last time. In the evening we got the call that no one wants to get.
I don’t want to bring you down with a sad story. But to remind you that life is precious and vulnerable. Cherish it every day. Mind the words of Marcus Aurelius, “What a precious privilege to be alive“.
Why not do a 30 Days of Gratitude Challenge as described in this post with a free poster and workbook to go along?
Then, go and make Mom feel your affection and have a great time together outside! Send out some love.
